The Book of Ruth

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

"For the Law of The Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the Law of Sin and Death" (Romans 8:2)

The Book of Ruth is a beautiful, pastoral account of the Kinsman Redeemer-the Go-El. Boaz, Ruth's Go-El is a picture of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ-our Jehovah Go-El. Jesus redeemed His bride, the church, paying the price of redemption with His shed Blood on the Cross. Glory to the Lamb!

Just like Ruth who was the Gentile bride of Boaz, the church is the Gentile Bride of Christ. And as Ruth had nothing of which to boast, we the church, can only respond to His love with "...Why have I found grace in thine eyes that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?" (verse 10)

As the Go-El, the redeemer must be:

a relative
free
able to pay the price of redemption
willing to pay the price of redemption
prepared to marry the widow

As our Jehovah Go-El, Jesus is:

our relative when He was manifest according to the flesh (John 1:1, 12, 14, 16, 29).
free from the sin that bound us (John 8:32,36).
able to pay the price of redemption giving His ALL for the lost and dying souls of the world (Second Corithinas 8:9).
willing to pay the price of redmption as so beautifully portrayed in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:39-42; Romans 5:5-12).
willing to take His bride, the Church (Revelation 19:6-9).

Praise Jesus, our Jehovah Go-El!
